President's Message
Greetings Maine Chapter Members, Sponsors, and Guests,
On behalf of the Board of Directors from the Maine Chapter of HFMA, I would like to welcome you to your HFMA website. As you look at each of the web pages you will find detailed information about our chapter as well as national HFMA topics. We update educational information frequently, so please check back often to see what is new.
During our Chapter's long and proud history, we have established a local, regional, and national reputation for excellence in education, talented and dedicated volunteers, and improving the healthcare industry through the advancement of best practices. Nothing exemplifies our commitment to education and our members more than the two awards we earned in 2010. I am proud to announce that the Maine Chapter of HFMA was awarded both the Sister Mary Gerald Bronze Award for Excellence in Education and the Gold Award for Membership Growth and Retention at ANI in Las Vegas.
The 2010-2011 National HFMA Chairman is Debora Kuchka-Craig, FHFMA from MedStar Health in Columbia, Maryland. The National theme embraced by Ms. Kuchka-Craig is "Step Up". In these demanding financial times within our Healthcare industry, stepping up is the key to success. Those companies and individuals who are able to create and own innovative ideas and solutions will be the ones who will guide us into the future. New challenges will constantly arise due to the changes in the healthcare financial system, our goal is to step up and stay ahead of these challenges.
HFMA is prepared to help you step up. Whether through educational opportunities, professional development, or sharing experiences, HFMA provides you the tools to step up at your organization. Through membership in HFMA we all have the opportunity to attend educational events, volunteer and support our local and national chapters. Volunteers are at the heart of our Chapter's success, and there are positions available to fit any schedule. To learn more, please contact me.
I would also like to thank our Corporate Sponsors for helping our Chapter provide the high quality educational programs that our members have come to expect. Through their generous support we are able to deliver fantastic educational and networking events. If your organization is interested in becoming a Corporate Sponsor, please contact me.
Our Chapter Officers and Directors are pleased to serve you and would welcome hearing from you. If you have any questions or suggestions, please contact us.
Sincerely,
Amy Atherton
President 2010-2011
